Information & About
Welcome to MyDinoEncyclopedia, your gateway to world history. Our platform bridges the gap between paleontology and web technology, bringing extinct species back to life through immersive 3D visualization, detailed 2D visual archives, and interactive tools.

Project & Mission
MyDinoEncyclopedia is a personal project I created as a university student to combine my work in web development with my interest in paleontology. I started building this site to offer simple, hands-on 3D and 2D tools that make learning about prehistoric animals a bit more visual and straightforward.
Scientific Accuracy & Sources
MyDinoEncyclopedia is an independent project bridging web technology and paleontology. The site brings together interactive tools, 2D visual archives, and curated 3D models from various creators—with proper attribution—to help visualize prehistoric life. While not every 3D model is a 1:1 scientifically exact replica, they serve as interactive visual reference tools alongside our researched scale metrics to explore prehistoric scale and form. We are actively working on updating our archive with higher-fidelity and more scientifically accurate 3D models over time.
How to Use & Tutorial
MyDinoEncyclopedia is designed to be fully interactive. Here is a quick guide to getting the most out of our tools:
Navigating 3D Models:
Left-click and drag (or single-finger drag on mobile) to rotate species 360 degrees. Scroll or pinch to zoom in on anatomical details. Left-click to open its own 3D page.
Size Comparison Tool:
Select a prehistoric species and use the preset dropdowns to compare its scale side-by-side with humans, modern animals, or common objects in real-time.
Interactive Globe & Timeline:
Drag the geological timeline slider at the bottom of the ancient globe view to watch continental drift over millions of years and locate key fossil discovery sites.
2D Visual Archives:
Click on any creature in our 2D archive to open its encyclopedia, complete with species data, geological time period, and geographic distribution.
